Meet the Staff of MCP Counseling
Melinda Porter, MA, LPC-S, AASECT CST-S, is a counselor in Carrollton, Texas and Colorado. Melinda began her career in education, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement. She then went on to pursue a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas Wesleyan University. While her teaching career was fruitful and lasted for 13 years, she decided to venture into counseling – an endeavor that will allow her to work with individuals and their families as a unit.
Melinda added staff to provide more support to the clients at MCP Counseling. She has trained staff in areas of sexuality and gender to add to their individual strengths.
Melinda started her career working with sexuality and gender identity clients and now has grown into working with clients for Sex Therapy. Is also trained in EMDR. She also enjoys providing supervision for LPC-Associates and running the practice. Working with Fisher to provide support in the office for our clients. Overall, she is focused on providing a non-judgmental, comforting environment that cultivates communication and expression. Melinda will guide you on a path toward self-understanding, self-comfort, and self-discovery.

Matt Edge, MS, NCC, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
From an early age, Matt always knew he wanted to go into a career that allowed him to help people. Way before he knew anything about counseling, Matt set a goal to be the guy that makes the people around him happier, whether that be through trying to make someone laugh, giving a needed compliment, or simply just being there when they needed someone to listen. One of Matt’s main passions is working with clients who are struggling with chronic pain or illness. As someone who has had his fair share of injuries, Matt has a soft spot in his heart for the struggles that come with having a significant pain that just won’t go away.
Mac Taylor, MS, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
From his childhood, Mac was always the guy that everybody talked to. And he loved to talk with everyone. This has become his passion and his career, and today he continues to talk and learn with people using a Person-Centered approach that meets people where they are and works with them to help them get where they want to be. Mac supports individual as well as couples clients, adults, and adolescents. He is proud to offer counsel covering a variety of issues but specializes in couples and relational issues, men’s issues, and adult/late diagnosis ADHD.
Sapphire Coker, MA, LPC
LPC
Sapphire works with children, adolescents, and adults using a combination of person-centered, behavioral therapies, and motivational interviewing. She believes that the uniqueness of everyone should be recognized in therapy and strives to provide tailored care for each of her clients. She believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to feel heard and understood.
Jasmine Francis, MA, LPC-A
LPC-Associate
Jasmine has experience working with children and teens struggling with self-esteem and adjusting to new phases in life. She has worked with couples dealing with communication and trust issues. As a counselor, Jasmine is passionate about creating safe space for everyone to create an environment for growth. Jasmine ensures a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported throughout the therapeutic process.
Taryn Colgrove, MS, LPC-A
LPC-Associate
Taryn believes it is imperative to provide a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for everyone she works with. Her approach to therapy values diversity while acknowledging the reality of marginalization, inequity, and injustice. Her style is non-coercive, non-pathologizing, sex-positive, and harm-reduction-based. She is skilled at working with clients to find the best approach(es) to fit their needs.
Kelsey Madenwald, M.Ed., LPC-A

Kelsey has experience working with adults of all ages and uses individualized approaches to therapy with techniques of person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and narrative therapies. Kelsey believes in treating the person and their needs rather than the diagnosis and pathologizing the state of the client and approaches every client in an individualized way. Whether you are struggling with a large change in your life or want to improve your overall mental health, Kelsey can help you get to where you want to be.
Sam Villarreal, MS, LCDC, LPC-A
LPC-Associate
Sam hopes to offer you an approach that meets you where you are while both nurturing you and facilitating the changes that you want. She aims to provide a non-judgmental and safe place for clients to work in while being her genuine and authentic self and she encourages you to do the same. In therapy with Sam, you can expect a harm-reductionist approach, a non-pathologizing view, as well as an affirming and validating space.
Shaian Assadi, MS, LPC-A
LPC-Associate
Shaian thinks it’s important that a therapist offers a safe, empathetic and inclusive environment for their clients. His goal is to help my clients identify their values and the skills associated with them and use this knowledge to help them effectively confront current and future problems. He believes the relationship between a therapist and their client is collaborative. He treats the client as an expert of their own story. His approach to therapy stems from a narrative, CBT, multicultural, person-centered perspective.
Kalley McConathy
Clinic Manager
Kalley McConathy is the Clinic Manager for MCP Counseling in Carrollton, Texas. She is currently working on her Master of Social Work degree at Texas State University. Driven by her passion to make a difference and help others, her ultimate goal is to become a social worker. She believes in the importance of mental health and the family as a support system
Alex Escamilla
Administrative Assistant
Alex Escamilla is the Administrative Assistant for MCP Counseling in Carrollton, Texas. Previously working with other offices, she has found herself always enjoying the process of helping clients with their needs upon first arrival and with continuing care. She strives to do her best with any task given at hand and is always willing to give a helping hand within her capabilities.
